Day 1: Seattle – Lima - International flight (not included) estimated cost $900/person

Bienvenidos! Welcome to Peru. You will be pick up at Lima Airport and transferred to the hotel in Miraflores.

At around 6:30 p. m, your Barranco experience and dinner show starts. This evening, you will discover the bohemian district of Barranco and its traditional Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and a spectacular show at “La Dama Juana” restaurant, featuring amazing local dance, music, and Peruvian folklore. (Optional Lima City tour and/or Gastronomic tour, additional cost if you arrive before 8 a. m.)

Day 2- April 23rd: Madre de Dios -Puerto Maldonado

 

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Amazon. On your arrival of your flight to Puerto Maldonado, our guides will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the Capitanian Port. We take our motor boat along the Madre de Dios River for approximately 40 minutes to the lodge. After a well-deserved lunch, you will take kayaks to the river. This is a very relaxing, easy activity for people of nearly any level of fitness.

You will make your way to Monkey Island, which is as great as it sounds – you’ll see a huge diversity of monkeys such as capuchins, tamarins, and squirrel monkeys. For an optional night-time excursion, you may venture out in search of caimans on the river – if you dare.

Day 3- April 24th:

 

Start the day strong with a hearty breakfast at the Lodge. First activity of the day is a scenic boat ride to the Tambopata National Reserve Zone. You’ll be captivated by the sights and sounds of the rainforest during our hour and a half long walk, arriving at the famous Sandoval Lake where you can have lunch and swim.  After this long day immersed in nature, you will return to the Eco lodge for some dinner and rest.

Day 4- April 25th: Puerto Maldonado – Cusco

We will depart at down to visit the salt licks, a special place where hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to eat the rich clay that provides them with the salts and minerals necessary to metabolize and neutralize the toxins and acids of the flowers, fruits, and seeds upon which they feed. You will observe this phenomenon firs thing in the morning, and then return to the lodge at about 7am for breakfast.
 
Then our last adventure will be going to the hanging high canopy bridge and zip lines. Afterward, it’s back to the lodge to rest before taking the return boat to Puerto Maldonado to take the plane to Cuzco.

 

We will arrive in Cusco for a welcome reception from Peruvian Hearts, a non-profit organization that empowers young women through education and meet some of them. Then you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have some time to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude. Free afternoon.  Optional a guided walking tour so you get acquainted with this charming city.

 Day 5: Sacred Valley – Ollantaytambo

 

The bus will pick you up between 8:30 a.m. and to 9 a.m. from your hotel, where you will head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will make a stop to marvel at the classic view of the Urubamba River as it snakes its way through the valley. Your journey continues to the small village of Pisac, where you will visit one of the most famous, colorful, and traditional handicraft markets in the region. Then you’re off to a trip to the archaeological complex of Pisac, where our knowledgeable guide will explain the history of Inca architecture.
 
Next stop: Urubamba. Here, we will have lunch at a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisine. Then we will head to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca city because it has kept the originality traditions and customs of the Inca lifestyle. An impressive archaeological site can be seen here, made up of an enormous sculpture of the main Incan God, Wiracocha, carved into the mountainside.

Lastly, you will visit the colonial church that was built in the 16th century to learn about its importance within archaeological history. After that we will go to the hotel in Ollantaytambo.

Day 6: Aguas Calientes

 

After breakfast, you will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have the afternoon free to walk, read a book, go to the market, or whatever you feel like. Remember, the next day you are going to see one of 7 Wonders of the World, “Machu Picchu.”

Day 7:  Sunrise in Machu Picchu

 

You will wake up at 4:30 a.m. and have breakfast in the hotel. At 5:30 a.m. our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station to go up to Machu Picchu. When you arrive, you will be able to see the sunrise at the top and enjoy the view of one of the 7 Wonders of the World. “Machu Picchu”.

 

Once you arrive, there will be a 2-hour, fully guided tour around the ruins, in which you will visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour, you will have free time to wander around and explore by yourself or you can choose to take a hike to Huayna Picchu (not included), which while steep and rugged is also more than rewarding. Once you reach the overlook atop the pass, you will get to witness an overhead view of the city that only a handful of people in history have ever seen. In addition, you can choose to spend the rest of your morning exploring the town and village in and around Machu Picchu. At the arranged time, we will go to the bus station to take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where you will be taking the bus back to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 8: Cusco


Today you will begin your trip back to where the adventure began. We will take care of all the transportation arrangements to get you back to Lima. We will deliver you in style to the airport, where your flight awaits. We’ll help with whatever you need: Check-ins, tickets, luggage, etc.
