Power of She Peruvian Tour                                                                                                                             Lima - Puerto Maldonado – Cuzco – Machu Picchu

Day 1: Seattle – Lima - International flight (not included) estimated cost $900/person
Bienvenidos! Welcome to Peru. You will be pick up at Lima Airport and transferred to the hotel in Miraflores.

At around 6:30 p.m, your Barranco experience and dinner show starts. This evening, you will discover the bohemian district of Barranco and its traditional Bridge of Sighs. Enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and a spectacular show at “La Dama Juana” restaurant, featuring amazing local dance, music and Peruvian folklore. (Optional Lima City tour and/or Gastronomic tour, additional cost if you arrive before 8 a. m.)

Day 2: Lima
After breakfast, we will visit the Inspira Shelter and meet the founder, Dr Ricardo Pun-Chung and learn more about the organization, his challenges and needs. The Shelter is a non-profit organization that provides free housing and food for children with cancer from all over Peru while they receive cancer treatment. We will have the opportunity to meet some of the moms and children at the center.

Day 3: Puerto Maldonado
This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Amazon. On your arrival at Puerto Maldonado, you will go directly to Hoja Nueva Lodge in the rainforest, tour the non-profit dedicated to rainforest conservation and meet with the founder of the lodge. Try some regional specialties like juanes, which are banana leaves stuffed with rice and chicken or pork. (We will follow the dietary restrictions noted on your forms.) Then, settle in a relax.

Day 4: Hoja Nueva Lodge
First thing in the morning, you will visit the Macaw clay lick, where usually a few dozen to hundreds of these beautiful rainbow birds gather to eat the nutrient-rich clay. Then, climb up the El Mirador, a lookout point where the earth appears to curve over itself and you can admire the whole city before you. Experience the dreamlike Amazon waterfalls, where the water flows through the jungle before pouring into the river. You can go behind the falls, take a swim, or if the group feel so inclined, even float down the Amazon river.

In the afternoon, go on a cacao tour with a family that practices sustainable cacao growing of both "chuncho, the rare , native jungle variety, as well as regular commercial varieties grown via agroforestry, an integration of trees and agricultural crops and animals on the same plot of land.


Lastly, return to Hoja Nueva Lodge for dinner and a night reptile walk.

Day 5: Hoja Nueva Lodge - Puerto Maldonado - Cusco

At around 5 a.m., go on an early morning bird walk, then explore trails, streams and the jungle.


We will take the return boat to Puerto Maldonado for a flight to Cusco at 2 p.m.

We will arrive in Cusco for a welcoming reception from Peruvian Hearts, a non-profit organization that empower young women through education. Then you will be transfer to your hotel. You will have a free afternoon to relax and acclimatize to the high altitude.

Day 6: Cusco
Start the day with a healthy breakfast, and then we will visit another non-profit organization call Awamaki. These organization educates and empowers women and girls to start their own businesses and gain financial independence.

In the afternoon get acquainted with this charming city through our guided walking tour. We’ll check out some of Cusco’s main attractions, such as the Qoricancha temple, San Pedro market, the main square, the 12 Angled Stone, Regocijo Square and San Blas Square. Lastly, we will visit the Chocolate Museum where you get to sample hot chocolate made from local cacao beans. Take a part of Cusco with you at the store, where you can buy handcrafted products and artisanal chocolate.

Day 7: Sacred Valley - Ollantaytambo

The bus will pick you up between 8:30 a.m. and 9 a.m. from your hotel, where you will head to the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will make a stop to marvel at the classic view of the Urubamba River as it snakes its way through the valley. Your journey continues to the small village of Pisac, where you will visit one of the most famous, colorful, and traditional handicraft markets in the region. Then you are off to a trip to the archeological complex of Pisac, where our knowledgeable guide will explain the history of Inca architecture
Next stop: Urubamba. Here, we will have lunch at a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisine. Then we will head to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca city because it has kept the originality of the Inca style. An impressive archeological site can be seen here, made up of an enormous sculpture of the main Incan God, Wiracocha, carved into the mountainside.


Lastly, you will visit the colonial church that was built in the 16th century to learn about its importance within archaeological history. After that we will go to the hotel in Ollantaytambo.

Day 8: Aguas Calientes

After breakfast, you will take the train to Aguas Calientes, where you will be transferred to your hotel. You will have the afternoon free to walk, read a book, go to the market or whatever you feel like. Remember, the next day you are going to see one of  7 Wonders of the World, “Machu Picchu”.

Day 9: Sunrise in Machu Picchu

You will wake up at 4:30 a. m. and have breakfast in the hotel. At 5:30 a. m. our tour guide will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station to go up to Machu Picchu. When you arrive, you will be able to see the sunrise at the top and enjoy the view of one of the 7 Wonders of the World.

Once you arrive, there will be a two-hour, fully guided tour around the ruins, in which you will visit the main sites and monuments. After the tour, you will have free time to wander around and explore by yourself or you can choose to take a hike to Huayna Picchu (not included) which while steep and rugged is also more than rewarding. Once you reach the overlook atop the pass, you will get to witness an overhead view of the city that only a handful of people in history have ever seen. In addition, you can choose to spend the rest of your morning exploring the town and village in and around Machu Picchu. At the arranged time, we will go to the bus station to take the train back to Ollantaytambo, where you will be taking the bus back to your hotel in Cusco.

Day 10: Cusco

Today you will begin your trip back to where the adventure began. We will take care of all the transportation arrangements to get you back to Lima. We will deliver you in style to the airport, where your flight awaits. We’ll help with whatever you need: Check-ins, tickets, luggage, etc.
