Day 1: August 19th - Flight from Seattle to Lima
 
Bienvenidos! Welcome to Peru.
You will be transferred from Lima airport to your hotel.

Day 2: August 20th – Lima City and Gastronomic Tours
 
Enjoy some breakfast, then explore Lima with your guide.  Your tour begins with a culinary adventure to a typical bustling Peruvian marketplace. You’ll have the chance to learn to make classic Peruvian dishes like Ceviche and the authentic Pisco Sour drink.
 
In Lima, we will take you through the ages, beginning in the pre-Hispanic era, moving through colonial times, and finishing with some very modern views of this endlessly interesting city. Sites include a panoramic view of La Huaca Pucllana, historical downtown Lima, San Isidro, and an unforgettable view of the Pacific Ocean from the district of Miraflores.

Day 3: August 21th - Puerto Maldonado

This morning you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Puerto Maldonado, the gateway to the Amazon. Upon arriving at the lodge you’ll enjoy a welcoming reception. After a well-deserved lunch, you will take kayaks to the river. This is a very relaxing, easy activity for people of nearly any level of fitness.

You will make your way to Monkey Island, which is as great as it sounds – you’ll see a huge diversity of monkeys such as capuchins, tamarins, and squirrel monkeys. For an optional night-time excursion, you may venture out in search of caimans on the river – if you dare.

Day 4: August 22nd - Puerto Maldonado
 
Start the day strong with a hearty breakfast at the Lodge. First activity of the day is a scenic boat ride to the Tambopata National Reserve Zone. You’ll be captivated by the sights and sounds of the rainforest during our hour and a half long walk, arriving at the famous Sandoval Lake where you can have lunch and swim.  After this long day immersed in nature, you will return to the Eco lodge for some dinner and rest.

Day 5: August 23rd - Puerto Maldonado City
 
We will depart at dawn to visit the salt licks, a place where hundreds of parrots and parakeets gather to eat the rich clay. This phenomenon is necessary for their diets, and a very interesting sight to see. They congregate here, along the rivers and streams in the Madre de Dios region of the Amazon rainforest.

You will return to the lodge for breakfast, then venture to the hanging high canopy bridge and zip lines. Afterward, it’s back to the lodge for lunch and rest before taking the return boat to Puerto Maldonado City, where will be stay for the night.

Day 6: August 24th -  Cusco – City Tour

That morning we will take a flight to Cuzco.  After arriving a welcoming reception wait for you and transfer to your hotel. Cusco is not just a simple town; it is a place of man-made beauty. Some consider it a time machine of sorts because it is the oldest inhabited city in the western Hemisphere, now called the archeological capital of America, and it is one of the New Wonders of the World. 
 
In the afternoon, the Imperial Cusco City tour starts. You will visit four archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, where the Incas showed to the conquistadors the power of their Empire by building an incredible place using huge stones; Q’enqo, a ceremonial center; Pucapucara, a control point that served as a kind of customs office; and Tambomachay, a sacred place where Incas worshiped the water.

Day 7: August 25th -  Moray & Maras (salineras) Tour
 
After breakfast, we will be pick up at 8:45am from the hotel to take the tour bus to the colonial town of Maras. Here, the main attraction is the salt mines, which consist of 3,000 small pools roughly 5 square meters in size.
 
After experiencing this amazing site, we will then head to the Moray ruins, located at 3,450m. This archaeological complex consists of incredible designed systems of terraces. The enormous terraces overlap concentrically, taking the shape of a giant amphitheater. These beautiful terraces formed a large agricultural laboratory, in which the ancient Peruvians cultivated and adapted plant species from the jungle to the Andes. We will return to Cuzco to our hotel around 3pm.

Day 8: August 26th - Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
 
Today we will see the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will stop to take in the iconic view of the Urubamba River that snakes its way through the valley. Your journey continues to the small village of Pisac, with a colorful handicraft market, and the archeological complex of Pisac, where your guide will explain the history and Inca architecture of this wonderful site.

Next stop: Urubamba. Here, we will have lunch at a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisine. Then we will head to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca city because it has kept the originality of the Inca style. An impressive archeological site can be seen here, made up of an enormous sculpture of the main Incan God called Wiracocha, carved into the mountainside. At 4:30pm we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. We will be arriving in Aguas Calientes around 7:15pm and be transferred to the hotel.

Day 9th: August 27th - Machu Picchu – Cusco

This is the final and most spectacular leg of the trip to Machu Picchu. We will wake up at 4:30am in the morning and have breakfast in the hotel. At 5:30am we will head off towards to the bus station to go up to Machu Picchu. When we arrive, we will be able to see the sunrise at the top and enjoy the view of one of the Wonder of the World “Machu Picchu”. From this point, Machu Picchu is a surreal and marvelous site.

Once we arrive at the lost city of Machu Picchu, there will be a 2-hour, fully guided tour around the ruins, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour, you will have free time to wander around and explore by yourself. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the rest of the day exploring the small town Aguas Calientes.  At the arranged time, we will take the train back to Cusco to be transferred to the hotel.

Day 10: August 28th - Cusco – San Blas – Lima
 
Today we will begin our trip back to where the adventure began. We will take care of all the transportation arrangements to get you back to Lima. We will deliver you in style to the airport, where your flight awaits. We’ll help with whatever you need: Check-ins, tickets, luggage, etc.
 
But before, we will take our last walking tour (2hrs) to the traditional old quarter of Cusco, San Blas area. It is the city's most picturesque district characterized by narrow and steep streets, colonial houses built with walls of Incan stone and numerous art workshops. We will visit San Blas Church. This is the oldest church in Cuzco, was built in 1560 during the colonial period. It houses a masterpiece of carpentry and wood carving that is the Baroque pulpit. It has a gold-leaf principal altar which is stunning. At the arranged time, we will go the airport.
