Day 1: June 14th - Flight from Seattle to Lima
 
Bienvenidos! Welcome to Peru.
You will be transferred from Lima airport to your hotel.

Day 2: June 15th -  Nazca
 
We will wake up early to take the bus to Nazca, where we will have the opportunity to fly above the desert and see the unbelievable Nazca Lines. We will be picked up from the bus station and then head to the aerodrome Maria Reiche. Our pilot will provide us with the map of the Nazca lines, and then give us an explanation about air travel. The flight will last about 35 minutes.
 
Members of the Nazca culture drew huge figures representing zoomorphic designs, anthropomorphic and geometric shapes, and straight lines. All of these line drawings are large enough to span hundreds of kilometers in different directions. The amazing thing is that figures can only be appreciated in their entirety from the air, flying over the desert.
 
After the flight, we will take another bus to Ica, where we will stay overnight.

Day 3: June 16th – Ica
 
Enjoy some breakfast, then explore Ica with our guide. Our tour will start with an Ica City tour, where you will have the opportunity to see the Main Plaza, the colonial houses, Sanctuary of Senor de Luren, and the Regional Museum. Afterwards, we will start our visit to the industrial Bodegas and wineries in Ica. Ica is the main location in Peru for the production of red wine and a popular Peruvian brandy known as Pisco. At the wineries, there will be a chance to sample the wine and pisco.
 
Then, we will drive southwest towards the Oasis of La Huacachina Lagoon, which is considered the “Oasis of America,” a gorgeous lagoon surrounded by palm trees and huge sand dunes. Around 3pm you will have the chance to ride in a dune buggy, up and down the dunes at fast speeds. There will also be an option for sand boarding.

Day 4: June 17th -  Paracas
 
After breakfast, we will take the minibus (6:30am) to Paracas, arriving there at 8am, heading to the port. We will leave to Ballestas Island on a tour boat. This harsh-looking collection of rocky isles is nevertheless home to an astounding concentration of marine wildlife, unique to Peru’s coast. In the avian category alone, there are 110 bird species, including nesting boobies, cormorants, and pelicans, that either live here year-round or stop briefly on Patagonia-to-Alaska migratory routes. We will also be able to see the famous three-pronged “El Candelabro”, which is a large-scale geoglyph carved into the sand like the Nazca lines.
 
Around 1pm, after walking by Paracas boulevard the guide will take us to visit the Paracas National Reserve. The Paracas National Reserve is considered one of the most important ecosystems on the planet. The Paracas Reserve is very important since the waters hold abundant quantities of zooplankton and phytoplankton, which support a huge variety of fish that allow industrial and artisanal fisheries; a very important activity in the town of Pisco.
 
Afterward, we will take the bus back to Lima, arriving around 11pm.

Day 5: June 18th - Lima City and Gastronomic Tours
 
Enjoy some breakfast, then explore Lima with your guide.  Your tour begins with a culinary adventure to a typical bustling Peruvian marketplace. You’ll have the chance to learn to make classic Peruvian dishes like Ceviche and the authentic Pisco Sour drink.
 
In Lima, we will take you through the ages, beginning in the pre-Hispanic era, moving through colonial times, and finishing with some very modern views of this endlessly interesting city. Sites include a panoramic view of La Huaca Pucllana, historical downtown Lima, San Isidro, and an unforgettable view of the Pacific Ocean from the district of Miraflores.

Day 6: June 19th - Flight from Lima to Cuzco
 
This morning we will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Cuzco. We’ll arrive in the morning for a welcoming reception and transfer to your hotel. Cusco is not just a simple town; it is a place of man-made beauty. Some consider it a time machine of sorts because it is the oldest inhabited city in the western Hemisphere, now called the archeological capital of America, and it is one of the new wonders of the world. 
 
In the afternoon, the Imperial Cusco City tour starts. You will visit four archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, where the Incas showed to the conquistadors the power of their Empire by building an incredible place using huge stones; Q’enqo, a ceremonial center; Pucapucara, a control point that served as a kind of customs office; and Tambomachay, a sacred place where Incas worshipped the water.

Day 7: June 20th -  Sacred Valley – Aguas Calientes
 
Today we will see the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will stop to take in the iconic view of the Urubamba River that snakes its way through the valley. Your journey continues to the small village of Pisac, with a colorful handicraft market, and the archeological complex of Pisac, where your guide will explain the history and Inca architecture of this wonderful site.

Next stop: Urubamba. Here, we will have lunch at a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisine. Then we will head to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca city because it has kept the originality of the Inca style. An impressive archaeological site can be seen here, made up of an enormous sculpture of the main Incan God called Wiracocha, carved into the mountainside. At 4:30pm we will take the train from Ollantaytambo to Aguas Calientes. We will be arriving in Aguas Calientes around 7:15pm and be transferred to the hotel.

Day 8: June 21st - Machu Picchu – Cusco

This is the final and most spectacular leg of the trip to Machu Picchu. We will wake up at 4:30am in the morning and have breakfast in the hotel. At 5:30am we will head off towards to the bus station to go up to Machu Picchu. When we arrive, we will be able to see the sunrise at the top and enjoy the view of one of the Wonders of the World -- Machu Picchu. From this view, Machu Picchu is a surreal and marvelous site.

Once we arrive at the lost city of Machu Picchu, there will be a 2-hour, fully guided tour around the ruins, visiting the main sites and monuments. After the tour, you will have free time to wander around and explore by yourself. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the rest of the day exploring the small town Aguas Calientes. At the arranged time, we will take the train back to Cusco to be transferred to the hotel.

Day 9: June 22nd - Cusco – San Blas – Lima
 
Today we will begin our trip back to where the adventure began. We will take care of all the transportation arrangements to get you back to Lima. We will deliver you in style to the airport, where your flight awaits. We’ll help with whatever you need: Check-ins, tickets, luggage, etc.
 
But before, we will take our last walking tour (2hrs) to the traditional old quarter of Cusco, San Blas area. It is the city's most picturesque district characterized by narrow and steep streets, colonial houses built with walls of Incan stone and numerous art workshops. We will visit San Blas Church. This is the oldest church in Cuzco, was built in 1560 during the colonial period. It houses a masterpiece of carpentry and wood carving that is the Baroque pulpit. It has a gold-leaf principal altar which is stunning. At the arranged time, we will go the airport.
