Day 1: Arrive Cusco - City Tour
In the afternoon, the Imperial Cusco City tour starts. You will visit four archaeological sites: Sacsayhuaman, where the Incas showed to the conquistadors the power of their Empire by building an incredible place using huge stones; Q’enqo, a ceremonial center; Pucapucara, a control point that served as a kind of customs office; and Tambomachay, a sacred place where Incas worshiped the water.
Included: Imperial Cusco City tour, transportation and entry to all sites
Day 2: Sacred Valley Tour
Today we will see the Sacred Valley of the Incas. Along the way, we will stop to take in the iconic view of the Urubamba River that snakes its way through the valley. Your journey continues to the small village of Pisac, with a colorful handicraft market, and the archeological complex of Pisac, where your guide will explain the history and Inca architecture of this wonderful site.
Next stop: Urubamba. Here, we will have lunch at a restaurant that specializes in the regional cuisine. Then we will head to Ollantaytambo, known as the living Inca city because it has kept the originality of the Inca style. An impressive archeological site can be seen here, made up of an enormous sculpture of the main Inca God called Wiracocha, carved into the mountainside. Lastly, you will visit the colonial church to learn about its importance within archaeological history. You will take the train to Aguas Calientes and be transferred to your hotel.
Included: Sacred Valley tour, entry to all sites, transportation, breakfast and lunch
Day 3: Machu Picchu
An early morning, but it will be worth it. You'll wake up at 4:30am and have breakfast in the hostel, then take a bus to the top of Machu Picchu for a breathtaking sunrise view of this wonder of the world.
Our guide will take you on a 2 hours tour around the ruins, teaching you all about the ancient Inca city. After the tour you will have free time to wander around and explore by yourself, or you can choose to take a hike to Huayna Picchu, which is very steep and rugged, but rewarding. Once you reach the lookout point, you will get to witness a view of the city that only a handful of people in history have ever seen – past or present. Alternatively, you can choose to spend the rest of your morning exploring the town and village in and around Machu Picchu. Your guide can tell you about different hotspots you can check out. At the arranged time we will return to Cusco by train and transfer you to your hostel.

What do you get?
I went on a group trip with Conquer Peru and it was the most incredible experience! I've never been on a trip that packed SO MANY activities and experiences into two weeks, but I truly feel like I got to see the best of the best. Not only did we travel across the entire country, seeing Machu Picchu and the Amazon, Lima and Lake Titicaca, but we knew every restaurant, hotel, and site we visited was an authentic, high quality experience because of Matilde's expertise and knowledge about Peru. It's so fun to travel with a local who can be both a guide and a friend as you take in all the sights. My favorite part was the unique hotels Matilde found for us, like the bungalows along the Amazon river. And of course, Machu Picchu exceeded all my expectations. It really was the trip of a lifetime, thanks to Conquer Peru's organizing!
